Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing to welcome a staggering number of travelers as the Eid Al Fitr holiday coincides with school spring breaks this year. From March 26 to April 7, 2025, the airport is forecasting over 3.6 million passengers will pass through its bustling terminals. It's no surprise that demand is high; key travel destinations include India, Pakistan, the UK, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, and Italy, all appealing spots for those seizing the holiday break.
The peak day for this expected travel boom is set for April 5, when approximately 309,000 travelers will embark on or conclude their journeys at DXB. Throughout this holiday season, daily passenger numbers are anticipated to average around 276,000, with the first week of April likely experiencing the highest traffic volumes. This spells a 19% jump in departures compared to typical figures, reflecting a strong penchant for family reunions and leisure expeditions.
In response to this travel surge, Emirates, Dubai's flagship airline, is stepping up to the plate. The airline plans to launch 17 additional flights between March 26 and April 6, specifically targeting routes to Jeddah, Kuwait, Dammam, and Amman. With this increase in capacity, over 371,000 passengers are expected to travel with Emirates, including an estimated 80,000 departures happening over just two days. Adding a festive touch, Emirates will offer a special Eid-themed menu, featuring dishes like chicken madhbi and pistachio cake, onboard select flights.
To manage the anticipated congestion at the airport, Dubai Airports has rolled out the DXB Express Maps. This innovative navigation tool, activated via a QR code, provides real-time, step-by-step directions throughout the airport’s expansive terminals. Further improving the experience for travelers with disabilities, the airport has enhanced accessibility with dedicated routes, subtle assistance through the Sunflower Lanyard program, and a specialized Assisted Travel Lounge at Terminal 2.
Given the potential for crowds and extended waiting times, travelers are strongly advised to arrive at least three hours prior to their scheduled departures. This buffer is especially crucial for smoothly navigating security checkpoints and ensuring a stress-free start to their holiday adventures.
